Rules and Regulations

1. TO ENTER: simply follow the contest link on the www.pne.ca  web site, click on the enter button and complete and submit your entry by following the instructions found at the site. One prize will be awarded. Entries are limited to one entry per person, per email address. One additional entry will be awarded, per person, per email address for inviting friends to enter. All entries must include your name, address, city, postal code, ten digit telephone number, age, and a valid e-mail address.  Entries received shall be deemed to be submitted by the authorized account holder of the email address submitted at the time of entry. “Authorized account holder” is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an e-mail address by an internet access provider, on-line service provider, or other organization (e.g. business, educational institution, etc.) that is responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address. Contest starts at 6:00 pm Pacific Standard Time (“PST”) on Friday August 8 and closes on Monday September 1st, at 11:59:59 p.m. PST (the “Contest Period”). There is one (1) Grand Prize to be won from all the eligible entries received during the Contest Period. No purchase necessary. Void where prohibited.

2. The contest sponsor(s) is/are: Playland and the Pacific National Exhibition (hereinafter referred to as the “Contest Sponsor(s)”, VanCity and EVA Air.

3. To enter and to be eligible to win, entrant must be a legal resident of British Columbia. Employees and their parents, siblings and children, and persons domiciled with an employee of any of the Contest Sponsor(s), its/their agents, parent, affiliated or related companies, subsidiaries, divisions, prize sponsors, and promotional and advertising agencies and administrators, are ineligible to enter. Entrants who are under the age of 14 at the date of entry are eligible to enter the contest and win as prize provided that the parent or legal guardian of the entrant accepts any such prize and the terms and conditions hereof for and on behalf of such entrant.

4. Grand Prize: There is one (1) Grand Prize of airfare for two to any destination that EVA Air flies from the Vancouver International Airport (YVR) and one VanCity mytreat Visa Gift Card. Approximate retail value of the Grand Prize is one thousand seven hundred Dollars Canadian ($2900 CDN).
2 Roundtrip economy flights will be provided by EVA Airways, leaving from Vancouver airport to the winner’s chosen EVA Airways on-line operating Southeast Asia destinations including: Bangkok, Bali, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hong Kong, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Macau, Manila, Phnom Penh, Singapore or Surabaya. Winner may choose any destination of their choice from the above list but may only fly to a current EVA destination. Certificates will be valid for one year from date they are issued to the winner. Winners must book trip with EVA Airways before the one year window expires after issuance. So long as the trip is booked within that year, travel may occur up to an additional six months after booking. Trip length may not exceed 90 days (winner must return to Canada within 90 days of leaving). Once booked, trips are non-transferable, non-refundable. Flights have following blackout dates: Aug 25, 2008-Sept. 5, 2008, Dec. 15, 2008-Dec. 31, 2008, Jan. 1, 2009-Jan. 10, 2009, Jan. 19, 2009-Feb. 2, 2008,  June 25, 2009-July 5, 2009, Aug. 25-Sept. 5, 2009, and Dec. 15, 2009-Dec. 31, 2009. Should EVA Airways be unable to fulfill their role with tickets for any reason, winner will be given MSRP equivalent value in certificate or ticket to be used with another airline.  All taxes to be paid by winner by cash or money order. (Tax amounts are determined based on taxes in effect at time of booking.)  Approximate value of each roundtrip tickets to operating Southeast Asia destination flown by EVA Airways is $1200 Canadian (taxes excluded).
VanCity mytreat Visa Gift Card may be used at merchants that accept Visa and may not be used for purchases that go against the Vancity ethical policy or to “pay at the pump” at gas stations. Card may not be used for cash advances. More information available here.

5. Daily Prizes and Grand Prize must be accepted as awarded. The Prize may not be sold, transferred and is/are not convertible to cash. The Pacific National Exhibition reserves the right to substitute the Prize in whole or in part in the event that all or any component of the Prize is/are unavailable.

6. On or after September  2, 2008 at approximately 12:00 p.m. PST, a random draw will take place at the Pacific National Exhibition, from all eligible entries received during the Contest Period. The first entry drawn will be eligible to win the Grand Prize. The odds of winning a Prize will depend upon the total number of eligible entries received during the Contest Period. The Contest Sponsor(s) will attempt to contact potential winner, or, if under the age of fourteen (14), his or her parent or legal guardian, by email within two (2) business days after the draw. Proof of identification must be provided upon request. The selected entrant will have two (2) business days to confirm receipt of award via email. In the event that a confirmation email is not received by the Pacific National Exhibition, a second random draw will take place following the same guidelines as above. In order to be declared a winner, potential winner must first correctly answer, unaided, a time limited mathematical skill testing question. Before being awarded a Prize, potential winner or, if under the age of fourteen (14) , his or her parent or legal guardian, will be required to sign and return within the time stipulated by the Contest Sponsor(s), a full release and indemnity form stating that he/she has read and understood these official rules and regulations, grants all consents required, authorizes the Contest Sponsor(s) to broadcast, publish and disseminate his/her name, address, photograph, likeness, sobriquet and voice, in connection with any promotion or publicity, and/or for general news, entertainment and information purposes at no additional compensation to the potential winner beyond the awarding of the Prize. The winner(s) must also accepts the Prize as offered and releases the Contest Sponsor(s) from any and all liability of any kind arising out of the potential winner’s participation in this contest and receipt and use of the Prize. In the event that the potential winner(s), as applicable, does not comply with all the provisions as contemplated in these official rules and regulations, Contest Sponsor(s) shall have the right to disqualify potential winner(s), and draw an alternate potential winner and the Contest Sponsor shall be fully and completely released and discharged from any liability or responsibility in this regard. The provisions and procedures referred to above relating to selection and notification of a potential winner(s), if applicable, shall be applied, with the necessary amendments, until a qualified winner has been duly selected.

7. By entering this contest the entrants and participants automatically agree to accept and abide by these official rules and regulations. All decisions of the Contest Sponsor(s) with respect to any aspect of this contest, including without limitation the eligibility of entries, are final and binding on all entrants in all matters as they relate to this contest.

8. All entries become the property of Contest Sponsor(s) who assume no responsibility for lost, late, delayed, destroyed or misdirected e-mail, voice messages, or any computer errors or malfunctions. No correspondence will be entered into except with contestants requesting contest official rules and regulations by mail or requesting names of prize winner(s) (for which a self-addressed, postage paid envelope must be included) or contestants that have requested further email communication by checking the box which states, “Check this box if you wish to receive periodic email updates on upcoming events and promotions relating to the PNE, Playland and The Fair. Contest Sponsor(s) does/do not assume any responsibility for incorrect or inaccurate capture of entry information, technical malfunctions, human or technical error, seeding or printing errors, lost, delayed or garbled data or transmissions, omission, interruption, deletion, defect or failures of any telephone or computer line or network, computer equipment, software or any combination thereof. Entry materials/data that have been tampered with or altered are void. If for any reason, in the opinion of the Contest Sponsor(s), in its/their sole discretion, the contest is not capable of running as originally planned, or if the administration, security, fairness, integrity or the proper conduct of the contest is corrupted or adversely affected, including by reason of infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other causes beyond its/their control, Contest Sponsor(s) reserve(s) its/their right to cancel, terminate, modify, amend or suspend the contest including canceling any method of entry, and select a winner from previously received eligible entries. Contest Sponsor(s) reserve(s) its/their right to modify the official rules and regulations of this contest without materially affecting the terms and conditions hereof. The Contest Sponsor(s) reserve(s) its/their right in its/their sole discretion to disqualify any individual it/they find(s) to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the contest or to be acting in violation of these official rules and regulations or otherwise in a disruptive manner. Any attempts to deliberately damage any web site or to undermine the legitimate operation of this contest is a violation of criminal and civil laws and should such an attempt be made, the Contest Sponsor(s) reserve(s) its/their right to seek remedies and damages to the fullest extent of the law. Contest Sponsors shall not be held responsible for any errors or negligence that may arise or occur in connection with the contest including any damage to an entrant’s computer equipment, system, software or any combination thereof, as a result of their participation in this contest or from downloading any material from the contest web site, where applicable.

9. This contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws and regulations. By entering this contest, each entrant consents to the collection, use and distribution of his/her personal information (information that identifies an entrant as an individual, such as home telephone number, age and home address) by the Contest Sponsor(s) for the purposes of implementing, administering and fulfilling this contest. Contest Sponsor(s) will not sell or transmit this information to third parties except for the purposes of administering this contest.
